A religious man will tell you his belief. He talks about stories and historical places mentioned in his bible. But what this man does not tell you is why his religion is right and others are wrong. Did you know Jesus was Jewish? Did you know he chose disciples to write the bible? If this bible was practically written by a Jew, why does the Christian bible differ from the Jewish bible? These are only a few of the many questions that no one can answer. My facts lie within my questionnaire and now the only defense these religions have, is answering my test. It’s up to you to mix and match.
The bible states that men should be the care taker, superior, and controller of the family. This might sound precise and sound like the typical family. When the disciples wrote the bible, there were no women writing it. There for, men wrote the bible how they wanted it to be. This is not a statement against men, but the possibility of false perception. Not only did these chosen men write the bible, but many more did. The bible was written when computers, printers, and other technology did not exist. This means the bible may have been changed while all of these people wrote “copies” of it. Considering you did not know these people, trust in them is very scarce. Constantine, a very patronizing, superior ruler, took parts out of what we know now as the bible. This book we know today had important “rules” and “facts” that aren’t even there anymore! The holy bible, oh so right about life, has been misrepresented, distorted, personalized, misused, and has been an indoctrination for thousands of years. This is not the end of it.
Although my main subject has been aimed at Christianity and Judaism, Muslim and Mythology are other religions I question about. Allah is the Muslim word for god. How do we know their god isn’t the same as a Christian god? Or Mythology, how do we know their gods and goddesses are the real gods? Here is my answer. Religion is just a way for people to get along with their life. Greek gods for example: when the sky stormed, there was a god that was responsible for the storm or when the waves of the ocean flooded towns, there was a god for those killing waves. Religion is almost an excuse. It helps people understand how to live their lives. Each religion has been created to fit each lifestyle. Then, after they are established, they almost seem too true. These people believe their religion is proper, enhanced, and extraordinary while they also believe everyone must follow this. War begins, fights start, killing takes places, and now, for the next thousands of years, there will be still no resolution. How humane and beneficial can religion get?
Overall, I do recognize the opposed opinions of my debate. I once was a Christian with many beliefs in god, I have been educated with other religions and I have been exposed to many customs. In the end, no religion quite made any sense. Logic and science are the only theories that have data and evidence of being exact. Just know that no man can truly say a religion is right or wrong. We can only dream of knowing the actual truth of life. Mix. Match.
Wow- this is a hard hitting question that could be debated for a lifetime.
I know that I have struggled with religion. I was born and raised Catholic, and still attend Mass with my family, although I was educated in a Baptist school ( Go figure) , but at times I don’t feel the connection and I doubt. However, due to my years at catechism, years of bible classes from Elementary to 8th grade, and now studying various religions, I have developed my own theory as to where religion has a place in the soul. But i will address this question in two ways.
I think the human soul is very vulnerable, and sacred, and for every human to be happy, their soul needs to be at peace. One way that people feel peace is to have the feeling that someone is looking out for them.
Now in order to have a relationship with a supreme being, I believe that you need both SPIRITUALITY/ AND RELIGION. Let me explain.
- Spirituality is your one on one relationship with whatever spirit you believe in. You may not attend a church or practice and rituals, but although many people are not devout, many profess to have some belief that there is a God or Spirit in the sky. As for morals, spirituality brings about your own accountablity- Can you keep yourself in line?
Well of course you can- I believe that a person can be wonderful and not believe in God. However, I feel that religion can offer ways, ideas and methods in order to develop that spiritual relationship. Religion can also strengthen your beliefs and values, as you come into contact with fellow believers- and I think for some people, this is why they go to church- They enjoy the tradition, the unity, the sense of belonging somewhere. And if that is the potential of what religion has to offer, is that so bad?
I realize that you are right- logic and science has evidence. But I believe that the Bible does have proof, as it does tell of things that exist in our present world. And even if that argument got shut down, there is still one main element- that to be religious or to be spiritual the main ingredient is faith- acceptance without proof.
Now for many years, I doubted Catholicism, and I started to research different ones, and the similarities. For example, Christians believe that Mary had an immaculate conception, through God. Well, did you know, that in some Native American cultures, the story is that a crow dropped a seed into a woman’s stomach and the child that was born was The Great Spirit? the Great Spirit that is looked upon with reverance in various tribes.
And I also, noted other similarities in religions and I couldn’t help but ask myself " Could they all be wrong?" Even Muhammed Ali once said that Religion was like water. There are different forms of water- lakes, rain, rivers, oceans. But all those variations are made of one, common source.
But they could still be wrong, yes, they could. But I must admit that I tend like to think that there is one spirit up there looking out for us, and that religions are various interpretations of this entity, because people feel the need to believe. After all, why do some many people believe in fate, Karma, Nature ? Why do people call Psychics and have tarot card readings? Why do people take note of leaders? Because people in general have that need and desire that someone is taking care of them. And if religion or spirituality does that, and provides some optimism and hope in this rough world we live in, then I think religion can be a good thing.

I don’t know how you do it or order it, but in the Apple Stores, next to the computers they have samples of products created on macintosh’s.. I looked at them just the other day and their was a awesome hardback, personalized, and narrorated picture book of a family vacation.
Perhaps you could call an apple store to find out more about how to make/order one. Also, Kinko’s does lots of personalized picture products so they might do a storybook also.
I picked up the title ‘Hell comes on the Wind’ on here a week or so ago. I would like to say thanks for those that posted the book’s title on here. Here is my review of the work.
I had read ‘The Last English King’ by Ian Rathbone, and followed on by reading Ken Follett’s medieval offering, ‘The Pillars of The Earth.’
I was looking for something along the same lines, when I noticed something on Yahoo Answers (Books and Authors) regarding the title ‘Hell Comes on The Wind.’ Intrigued, I had to Google the title and read the reviews. Many were impressed with the author’s first attempt at medieval novel.
I prefer to read hard copy, but I acquiesced and I would attempt to read off the screen the first two chapters. I was pleased to say that I was impressed, too. I could tell that the author had a good helping of talent. One could tell this was a first draft, posted, undoubtedly to judge the reader’s responses. This is a dangerous thing to do, especially with a story with so much market potential. My guess is, that this draft might well have been rejected a few times for technical reasons. The author should not give up. This work has great potential. Literary agents are fickle, and many agents do not recognize a winner when they see one. For me, I think that this IS a winner.
As for the theme: The start was wonderfully executed throughout, with the second chapter leading to a marvelous decision making processes that Charles Dickens would have been proud of. Reading right through the night, I finished the novel and decided to print out the entire work.
Mr. Bradbury has a unique writing style that I found fascinating and rational. Gripped indeed, not only by the writer’s audacity, but also by his sound reasoning and intellectual capacity to write an historical fiction that merged in so well with the factual characterizations of those we thought we knew so well. Many writers fail to breath enough life into their puppets, preferring to compound their own egos’ into their characters. The author has made serious attempts to avoid this error, taking much trouble to personalize individuals so that none of the protagonists is an extension of the author’s personality.
I hope that one day soon, your work will be accepted for publication. Do not give up.
Harrison Ford. (Yes, it is my real name but I am not the film star chap)
This story is a wonderful story that teaches children a valuable life lesson, to accept another as they are. Young readers will learn about a fat little frog who has been hurt by thoughtless comments about her size. The colorful illustrations are done by children to add interest. There is also a blank picture for the reader to color to personalize the book. This is what makes these books unique.
